Supporting Parents through Experiential Parent Coaching
"Relationships are the vehicle for change." - Natural Lifemanship
Woven Families Parent Coaching utilizes the Natural Lifemanship approach. Natural Lifemanship is trauma-informed, rooted in Attachment Theory, and based on the science of healthy relationships.
Utilizing an equine-assisted, experiential approach offers caregivers a unique opportunity to delve into essential relationship principles through hands-on interactions with horses. As parents learn key concepts and practice building secure emotional connections with horses, they can apply these concepts to strengthen their communication and bond with their children. By engaging in real, connected relationships that reflect key attachment principles, parents gain insights into responsive caregiving, emotional regulation, addressing challenging behaviors, and creating a secure base for their children. This experiential approach deepens understanding and provides practical tools for applying attachment theory and addressing challenges in their parenting journey.
Meet the Herd
Shawnee
It all began when I met Shawnee. Shawnee is my oh-so-beautiful BLM Mustang, whom I've had the joy of loving since 2006. Since then, Shawnee and I have had many adventures together.
Breed: Mustang
Color: Buckskin nd1 (non-dun, meaning she is a buckskin with some characteristics of a dun, such as a dorsal stripe and some primitive markings)
Birthyear: 2005
Background: Shawnee was born in a BLM holding pen shortly after her mother was gathered from the wild. Her freeze brand suggests her herd was in New Mexico. She came to live with us at 1 year old.
Favorites: belly button scratches, being brushed, snuggles, and treats
Burrito
Burrito is a super sweet, super vocal BLM burro who I've also had the joy of loving since 2006. He is Shawnee's best friend and constant companion.
Breed: Burro
Color: Gray (with a cross on his back)
Birthyear: 2005
Background: Burrito's mom, Esmerelda, was a BLM burro. Burrito was born shortly after she was gathered from the wild. He came to live with us when he was less than 1 year old.
Favorites: Braying loudly, stealing halters, kicking metal water troughs, rolling after being brushed, irritating the horses, sneaking into the garden, and being generally mischievous.
Sherman
Sherman came to live with us in May 2023. He is a big sweetheart and we are building our connection and establishing trust one day at a time. Our adventures together are just beginning!
Color: Bay (all brown with black points)
Birthyear: Unknown
Background: Rescued by Meadow Haven Horse Rescue & Sanctuary after he was reported as starving in Bexar County.
Favorites: Eating. And playing with Burrito!
